JAMMU, July 3: In an on-line function organised by Dogri Sanstha Jammu, a book of Dogri short stories entitled “Keh Pata” authored by well-known writer Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’ was released by Anuradha Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Samba.
Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’ is a prolific Dogri and Hindi writer who has also earned name and fame in the areas of theatre, radio and journalism. Prof Veena Gupta, a senior Dogri scholar and former Head of Department of Dogri, Jammu University, read an insightful paper highlighting the salient features of the released book.
Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’ read one of the stories from the book and also shed light on the process of his creativity, sharing some interesting experiences in the field of literature.
Anuradha Gupta, the chief guest on the occasion, spoke on length about the merits and outstanding characteristics of the stories in the collection. She said that good fiction is nothing other than the history of the times, told in an imaginative and creative manner. To that extent Raju’s stories fully justify this statement, she asserted. She further said that while portraying the hard realities of our times, Raju’s stories do not fail in conveying a subtle message to the readers. She appreciated Dogri Sanstha Jammu for cashing on the opportunity provided by the otherwise distressing present situation, in utilising the digital media for popularizing Dogri literature.
Prof Lalit Magotra, President of Dogri Sanstha Jammu, spoke at length on the multifaceted personality of Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’. While commenting on his contribution in various fields, he said that it is amazing how a single person could be so productive in the diverse fields of Literature, Art, Journalism, Radio and Television etc. He stressed that producing so much creative material, without compromising the quality, puts him in the category of super-humans. He wished him well for future.
The program was conducted and anchored by Pawan Verma, a well-known poet and Theatre activist who also provided technical support to the on-line program.
