JAMMU, July 3: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) has signed a broad-based MoU with Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu (IIT-J) promoting academic collaboration.
The MoU was signed between Prof. Manoj S. Gaur, Director IIT-J and Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET at IIT-J campus today.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Col. Sanjay Kumar Dahiya, Registrar; Dr. Amitash Ojha, Dr. Ankit Kathuria, Dr. Lakhwinder Singh and Akanksha Chauhan (from IIT-J) and Prof. S.K Sharma, Director Academics, Prof. Ashok Kumar and Dr. Sahil Sawhney (from MIET).
This is a first of its kind academic collaboration in the region, under which IIT-J shall offer advanced courses leading to minor degree specializations for MIET B.E students.
Initially, two specializations in Hydraulics & Water Resources Engineering and Transportation Engineering shall be offered for the B.E Civil Engineering students of MIET.
MIET students shall undertake four courses between the third and sixth semesters at IIT-J, which will be delivered by IIT-J faculty.
It is expected that this arrangement shall result in the attainment of high quality learning outcomes and help orient the students towards solving critical challenges in the local context.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Manoj Gaur, Director IIT-J described the MoU as far-reaching and aligned with the vision of IIT-J to help with capacity building in the region.
He congratulated the faculty teams from IIT-J and MIET for designing the programme, allowing MIET students to receive the best in-class exposure and learning experience at IIT-J.
Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET thanked Prof. Manoj Gaur for taking personal interest in facilitating the collaboration. He opined that the current MoU has set the benchmark for deep engagement between regional institutions and institutions of national importance such as the IIT-J.
Currently, no such collaboration exists in the country.
