SRINAGAR, June 23:
Amdist chanting of vedic mantras Pratham Pooja was held at holy Amarnath cave shrine to invoke the blessings today.
Director of Holy Cave Shrine Area B D Mengi led the pooja.
Since 2011, the Shrine Board has been conducting Pratham Pooja on the auspicious occasion of Jyesht Purnima every year to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva for the peaceful and smooth conduct of the annual Yatra, commencing from June 28.
Officials of the Shrine Board and personnel of the State Police, Security Forces and Army were among those present on the occasion of the Pooja.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) Navin K Choudhary, was slated to perform the Pooja at the Holy Cave but could not do so because of the non-availability of State Helicopter, due to technical reasons.
The 55-day-long Yatra will conclude on August 21, the Raksha Bandhan day. (AGENCIES)
