JAMMU, July 5: Janipur and Jhajjar Kotli Police arrested two thieves and recovered stolen items from their possession.
As per police sources, on June 22 this year, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Janipur by a lady namely Bably Devi, wife of Late Rattan Lal Sharma of Dharamsal, District Rajouri, at present Suraksha Vihar, Top Paloura, District Jammu stating that some unknown thieves entered into her house and decamped with gold and silver ornaments.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 78/2021 under Sections 454 and 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team from Police Station Janipur led by SHO Inspector Nayat Ali and assisted by PSI Anil Kumar under the supervision of SDPO West Rahul Nagar and SP North Mohita Sharma was constituted.
The team after strenuous efforts and with the aid of technical assistance, CCTV footages of the area and analysis of CDR/tower location finally nabbed the thief, who was identified as Amarjeet Singh, son of late Charanjeet Singh of Model Town, Gangyal.
During sustained questioning, the accused person confessed his involvement in the above case and five other such cases and on his disclosure stolen items were recovered, which include 6 gold bangles, gold rings, 10 gold jumkaas, 2 gold chains, 2 pair golden tops, 3 gold sets, one gold pendant, one gold mangal suter, one gold nam, one gold bracelet, two gold tikaas, one nose pin, 6 silver ankle bracelets, two silver kangan and one silver dish.
It is pertinent to mention that accused was a notorious criminal and was also involved in various cases registered with Police Stations Janipur and Bus Stand.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Meanwhile, yesterday a complaint was lodged at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli by a person namely Joginder Lal, son of Kirpa Ram of Suketar Tehsil Dansal District Jammu stating that a theft incident occurred at Airtel Tower near old Nandini Tunnel.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 114/2021 under Sections 454 and 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation initiated.
During investigation, a team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli led by SHO Inspector Devinder Singh was constituted under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh.
The team did strenuous efforts along with the analysis of CCTV footages of the area and other technical aids finally arrested the burglar, who was identified as Karan Singh alias Karnu, son of Buri Singh of Kanjli District Reasi.
On the disclosure of accused, the stolen items were recovered.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
