JAMMU, June 1: Nirjala Ikadashi was celebrated with fervour and gaiety all over Jammu region today. The devotees visited various temples of the region to offer pooja and pay obeisance. The devotees also observed fast on the day.
Having firm belief in the proverb that service to man is service to God the devotees also installed chabeels and stalls to serve the shaker- Sharbat (soft drinks) and prashad to passers by.
In Jammu city the Chabeels and stalls serving Shaker Sharbat and prashad to people were installed on busy roads, National Highway, every Mohalla, in front of temples and in markets to mark the observance of the day by the devotees.
The devotees including old men and children rendered their free service by serving soft drinks and prashad to people. The people also enjoyed the shaker sharbat to beat the scorching heat of Summer.
