3 arrested with poppy straw, heroin; 7 vehicles seized for illegal mining

JAMMU, July 9: Nagrota and Satwari Police arrested three drug peddlers along with poppy straw and heroin.
As per police sources, a team from Police Station Nagrota laid a naka and intercepted a person, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 15 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Mohammad Rafiq, son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Bhudan District Reasi.
Meanwhile, the similar team from Police Station Nagrota during checking intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK19-5355 and JK02CJ-7926.
During checking, police team rescued 7 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested two persons, who were identified as Happy Choudhary, son of Balwant Raj of Chack Hira District Samba and Sadam Hussain, son of Mohammad Riaz of Kheral District Reasi.
Cases under FIR Numbers 309/2021, 310/2021 and 311/2021 under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
The arrest was made by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Inspector Parupkar Singh.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Satwari led by SHO Inspector Deepak Jasrotia laid a naka near Rani Bagh bridge and intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02CS-1739.
During checking, police team recovered 25 grams heroin from the possession of rider and pillion rider and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Aditya Singh alias Daleep alias Deepu, son of Darshan Lal of Sohanjana, District Jammu and Sher Ali alias Billa, son of Lal Hussain of Sandwan Tehsil Marh District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 180/2021 under Section 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation initiated.
However, teams from Police Station Gharota led by SHO Inspector Khyati Maan Khajuria and Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Inspector Mohammad Shoket raided at different locations in their respective areas and seized four different vehicles involved in illegal mining.
The mining was being done in violation of order of High Court of J&K.
In order to strictly implement the drive against illegal mining and to tighten noose against the violators of the law, Jammu Police has initiated strict action.
