Cultural Academy organizes literary meet

KARGIL, June 24:   Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Kargil, organized a District Level Shina/Dardi literary meet at Government Higher Secondary School Drass, here today.
The meet comprised of different sessions of poetic compositions, short story recital and presentation of research oriented papers by the senior as well budding poets, Afsana Nigars and writers. Around 45 Shina/Dardi writers, poets and scholars were invited to participate in the day long event.
In the paper presentation sessions, Ghulam Ahmed Khan Jawan presented his paper on ‘The Shins of Drass’- A Historical Perspective, Raza Amjed Badgami on ‘The Origin of Dards and the History of their Migration towards Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh’, Tsewang Gyaltson on ‘History, Culture, Folk Songs and the Dance Forms of the Dards of Darchiks and Garkone’ and Mukhtar Zahid Badgami on ‘Origin, History and the Present Position of Shina/ Dardi language in Kargil and elsewhere’.
A short story was presented by Mohd Shafi Sagar while as the poets who rendered their poetic compositions included Mohd Hassan Kaksari, Molvi Neyaz Ahmed Neyazee Holiyal, Farooq Ahmed Noorie, Ghulam Mohd Shah Nigah Jasgond, Abdul Majeed Sehra Chokiyal, Najaf Ali Kaksari, Ahsan Ali, Feroze Ahmed Chirag Jasgond, Asgar Ali Asvi, Master Ataullah Parwaz Pandrass, Mukhtar Zahid, Raza Amjed Badgami, Mohd Shafi Sagar, Mohd Ishaq, Mohd Yaseen Ansari, and Javed Ahmed Pandrass.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Drass Barkat Ali Nizami was the chief guest, who in his speech remarked that the gathering has undoubtedly proved an ideal occasion to the men of letters in this language belonging to different parts of Kargil district to know each others literary pursuits from close quarters, and to generate discussion and devise strategies for further development of the language.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Nazir Hussain, Special Officer for Cultural Activities.
