JAMMU, July 11: A youth died due to drowning in Ranbir canal here today, police sources said.
The deceased was identified as Karan Thappa (21), son of Pyaru Ram, a resident of Sangrampur Durga Chak. He found drowned in Ranbir canal at Patoli.
The family members along with locals rushed to the spot and held protest. They also blocked the vehicular movement on the Akhnoor road. They were demanding suspension of water in the canal so as to fish out the body of the youth.
Later, the body of the youth was fished out from the canal and shifted to mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for post-mortem.
Domana Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
