Water-logging, submerging of some areas expose Smart City project: Shagotra

JAMMU, July 12: Apni Party District President Jammu (Urban), Pranav Shagotra today called failure of Jammu Municipal Corporation for poor drainage system as there was water-logging and submerging of several residential colonies during heavy rainfall here today.
Speaking at a meeting, Shagotra said that smart city project has failed before it could have taken off in Jammu because of the poor drainage system as a result of which property worth lakhs was damaged and inconvenience caused to the common masses of Jammu city.
He said, after heavy rains the choked drains led flash floods in many areas of Jammu.
“The losses should be assessed by the authorities and compensation should be given to the people who suffered damages due to the flash flood triggered by heavy rains,” said Shagotra.
“The smart city project seems to have been grounded before taking off and there is no development in the City of Temples,” he claimed.
The Apni Party leader said that widening work of Jammu-Akhnoor Highway has created a mess for the shopkeepers and commuters which need to be addressed and progress of the widening work should be monitored every week.
