2 JKRTC truck drivers, passenger arrested with contraband; bovines smuggling bids foiled

JAMMU, July 15: Chanderkote and Jhajjar Kotli Police arrested two drivers of JKRTC trucks and passenger along with contraband, while Warwan and Nagrota Police foiled bovines smuggling bids.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Chanderkote led by PSI Ankush Bhau intercepted a RTC bus bearing registration number JK02Y-0394, which was on its way from Ramban towards Rajgarh at JP Morh.
During checking, police team recovered 35 bottles of illicit liquor from the possession of the passenger and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Chuni Lal, son of Amar Singh of Kainthi Damote, District Ramban, at present Rajgarh, District Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 81/2021 under Section 48 (a) (f) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Chanderkote and investigation started.
The arrest and recovery was made under the supervision of SHO Chanderkote Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli led by SHO Inspector Devinder Singh laid a naka near Suketar and intercepted two JKRTC trucks bearing registration numbers JK02Y-0627 and JK02Y-0569.
During checking, police team recovered around 6.50 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicles and arrested drivers of both the vehicles, who were identified as Surjeet Singh, son of Kirpal Singh of Ward Number 1 Bhour Camp District Jammu and Tarvinder Singh, son of Amrik Singh of Karan Bagh District Jammu.
Cases under FIR Numbers 123/2021 and 124/2021 under Section 8/15/25 NDPS Act have been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation initiated.
However, on specific information, a team from Police Station Warwan led by SI Abdul Rashid under the supervision of SDPO Marwah Nisar Ahmed Khoja and SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Husaain Batt rescued three bovine animals and arrested one person, who was identified as Jahangir Ahmed, son of Qasim Bakerwal of Gadvail District Anantnag. The accused person was taking the bovines towards Kashmir without any permission or any other documentation from concerned authority.
A case under FIR Number 1/2021 under Section 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Warwan and investigation started.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Nagrota laid a naka and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02BN-2873.
During checking, police team rescued 11 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested one person, who was identified as Shabeer Khan, son of Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Tanda Jagti Tehsil Nagrota District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 322/2021 under Section 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh.
In another case, a team from Police Post Mandir Bahu Fort led by ASI Lekh Raj while on duty found a ladies purse in the temple premises containing more than Rs 6200 and other documents that belonged to a pilgrim from Bihar.
Acting swiftly, the team traced the pilgrim and handed over the purse to her.
