Workshop on Baseline Survey of Voters held

LEH, June 25: The day-long workshop on Baseline Survey of Voters was organized by the Directorate of Economic and Statistics here today.
The workshop was organized to impart training to the functionaries of the Planning Department of Ladakh Region for conduct of survey regarding knowledge, attitude, behaviour, belief and practices of voters.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Regional Joint Director, Statistic and Evaluation (Kashmir), Athar Hussain Qadri.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Qadri informed that the survey is being conducted in the State with the active participation of State Election Department and on the directions of Election Commission of India.
The main objective of the survey would be to understand the extent level of knowledge, belief, perception, readiness trends, sectors and the reasons for participation or non-participation of the registered voters in the elections and the voting process.
Meanwhile, the 2-day workshop on 6th Economic Census concluded here today. During the workshop the personnel of Statistics and Evaluation of Ladakh participated and imparted necessary training on various aspects of Economic Census.
In his valedictory address, Mr. Qadri threw light on the importance of economic census in the present times for the overall development of the State. He stressed for finalizing the data to launch 6th economic census in Ladakh region and directed the district planning authorities for convening the meeting of district Steering Committee under the chairmanship of concerned Deputy Commissioners.
Among other participants/enumerators, the workshop was attended by District Statistical and Evaluation Officer Leh, Padma Lundup, Asstt: Director Planning, Hadi, Chief Planning Officer Leh, Tashi Tundup and other civil offices of district administration.
