Shopkeeper among two arrested with pistol, live cartridges

JAMMU, June 25: A shopkeeper was among two arrested along with Germany made pistol and live cartridges from Satwari area of the winter capital.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs from reliable sources, police party from Satwari police station laid a naka and intercepted a Vespa scooter bearing registration number JK02J-5769.
During frisking, police recovered a Germany made pistol along with four live cartridges and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Ravi Kumar, son of Jai Ram, resident of Trikuta Nagar, owner of Arjun Dass Karyana Store at Narwal and Munish Slathia, son of Jaswant Slathia, resident of Sarwal.
During questioning, it came to fore that the pistol was handed over to Munish Slathia by history sheeter Pankaj Sharma alias Killer, resident of Rani Bagh, presently lodged in Sub-Jail Hiranagar in a murder case, when he was out on parole few months back, spokesman said, adding that Munish sold the pistol to the shopkeeper for Rs 35,000.
A case under FIR number 101/13 under Section 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Satwari Police Station and investigation started.
Police party led by Probationer DySP Shabir Khan and PSI Sandeep Charak made the arrest under the supervision of SP South Rajeshwar Singh, SDPO South SS Sambyal and SSP Jammu Atul Goel.
