JTC, SKF protest enters 289th day

JAMMU, July 17: The dharna launched by Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) in support of demands of displaced Pandits at Jagti entered the 289th day today.
Addressing the protesters Shadi Lal Pandita president, JTC and SKF said that before coming to power, the BJP was making tall claims that if their Government came to power, it would solve all the problems of Kashmiri Pandits.
He said that since the BJP Government came to power Kashmiri Pandits problems’ compounded day by day.
He said package employees should be paid the same salary as other employees and other all facilities be also provided to them. He said that six thousand 2 BHK flats to be built in Kashmir Valley for package employees immediately. Pandita said his organization is demanding increase in the monthly cash relief from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 per family per month, jobs to those families who have no serving Government employee, additional package of 20,000 jobs out of which 5,000 Class 4th posts be given to unemployed youth who could not continue their education after matriculation. Besides, community be given compensation for losses suffered during 31 years of turmoil. He also demanded minority status for Pandits with reservation in legislative bodies and on spot recruitment of migrant youth in camps and non camp areas in police and security forces besides settlement of community in three townships in Kashmir Valley.
