SRINAGAR, June 1: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajnath Singh today said that all outstanding issues of Jammu and Kashmir should be resolved in the light of humanity and justice.
While interacting with the media on his arrival in Srinagar as part of BJP’s Study Group on Kashmir, Singh said that BJP has not out rightly rejected the Interlocutors report on Kashmir but lot of points raised by them needed clarification.
Singh said that BJP is preparing its own report and Study Group of the party has visited the State 5 times so far. He said that the Study Group will prepare a detailed report on Jammu and Kashmir and BJP’s view point on the issue will be reflected in that report.
He said that they have met 70-80 delegations from Jammu and Ladakh. He said that their report on the Jammu and Kashmir will be comprehensive and not bookish.
When asked about their meeting with the separatists, Singh said that BJP has not invited any one and “whosoever comes to meet us is welcome”.
The BJP’s Study Group on Jammu and Kashmir that arrived in Srinagar today include Raj Nath Singh, Ravi Shankar Prassad, J P Nada and Abinash.
The Group met over a dozen delegations till this evening who put forward their view point on the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
These delegations are Bangas Valley Development Council, Sangarish Samiti Kashmir, All Migrant Camps Co-ordination Committee, 10 members of Young Journalist Association headed by Dr Rauf Mailk, 13 members delegation of journalists headed by Rashid Rahi, 11 members of journalists body headed by Pervaiz Reshi, Sanjay Saraf of Lok Jana Shakti, two members of Rank and File headed by Masood Muntazir, two members of journalists headed by Syed Tajamul, 5 members of Manzoor Youth Club Budgam, former president Secretariat Employees Association G M Khan and 5 members of Watan Parast headed by Khalid Tufail.
The All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee (AMCCC) delegation that met BJP leaders was headed by its President Desh Ratan Pandita.
Talking to Excelsior, AMCCC President said that the problems confronting the migrants living in different parts of the country was the focus of their discussion with the BJP leaders. He said the BJP team was made aware about the problems faced by Kashmiri Pandits while living in different migrant camps.
“We told the BJP leaders that the Kashmiri Pandits putting up at Jagti township in Jammu are without electricity. Despite repeated attempts no action has been taken by the government in this regard. The encroachment of the land belonging to the Kashmiri Pandits was also raised during the discussion and immediate action was demanded in this respect,” said Pandita.
The delegation members alleged that top ranking officials in the administration waste their time in meetings and do nothing to resolve the problems of the Kashmiri Pandits. The denial of jobs to the deserving candidates was also highlighted by the AMCCC during the discussion with the BJP delegation. The AMCCC members demanded that at least one job should be provided to families in the state.
“The delegation was impressed upon to visit the far-flung areas so that they know about the problems being confronted by the people of the state. We urged the BJP team to use their influence so that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is solved while taking on board the different stake holders,” said Pandita.
Besides Pandita, the other members of the delegation included Daljeet Singh, Abdul Ahad Najar, Rameshji and Dilawar Ahmad Reshi.
Earlier on his arrival when asked about senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani’s controversial remarks in his blog, indirectly targeting current president Nitin Gadkari and calling for introspection, Singh played it down.
“See, all I want to say is that Advaniji is the senior most leader of our party and I humbly accept his remarks as a suggestion,” said Singh. Advani in his blog had lamented the decisions taken during the Uttar Pradesh polls and the way the party is handling issues related to corruption. “I had said at the Core Group meeting that if people are today angry with the UPA Government, they are also disappointed with us. The situation, I said, calls for introspection,” Advani had said in his blog.
