JAMMU, July 23: Retired Employee’s Welfare Association (REWA) has appealed the J&K Government to de-freeze DA installments due from January 2020 so that they may cope up with rising monthly expenditure due to steep hike in prices of essential commodities.
The demand was raised during a virtual meeting of Association held today under the chairmanship of Dalbir Singh Sudan, who said that the retired employees spend their whole life as a tool of Government machine with dedication but after attaining superannuation their wages are reduced to 1/3rd, however, the responsibilities remain same on their shoulders.
Sudan said the prices of basic amenities are going sky rocketing, but the pensioners have no other source of income, except monthly pension. “The prices of medicines and consultation fees are rapidly increasing and are going out of reach of the pensioners,” he added.
The members of the association appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to de-freeze DA installments due from January 2020, enhance medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month and implementation of Mediclaim Policy which is the need of the hour.
Those who attended the meeting were Raphael Bernard, Hardeep Singh, Subash Chowdhary, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Narinder Sharma, Uttam Kohli, Dr Vidhya Sagar and Harbans Lal Sharma.
