JAMMU, July 25: PCC general secretary, Balwan Singh has asked the Centre to undo its decision of August 5, 2019, of reducing the state of Jammu and Kashmir to Union Territory.
While stressing the need of restoration of Statehood to J&K, Singh said that it was wrong to reduce J&K’s status to UT. ” The way forward now from this frozen political state is to give back to J&K its statehood,” he added.
Reminding the Prime Minister and Home Minister of their promise to revert the statehood to J&K, Balwan Singh said that the promise should be honoured in letter and spirit. Singh was addressing a meeting of Congress workers here today.
All the participants mostly from Marh Assembly constituency agreed with Balwan Singh that the statehood alone could meet the aspirations of the people and restore confidence in the democracy.
Among others who spoke on the occasion included Block presidents Saudagar Singh , Ashwani Sharma and Corporator Rachpal Bhardwaj, Ashok Bhagat and senior leader Jagdish Bhagat.
He also highlighted the hardships being faced by the common people due to the daily rise in prices . “Common people are suffering and it is very difficult for them to survive in these times of unprecedented price rise unleashed by the BJP Government,” he added,
