Sub-standard wires being used in Suchetgarh: Tony

JAMMU, July 25: District Development Council (DDC) Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony has alleged that sub-standard wires are being used to replace the worn out old ones under Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (RAPDRP) in Suchetgarh constituency.
He urged Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to direct the concerned department to use optimum standard LT wires in replacement works so that there is no risk to lives of people living in Suchetgarh.
In a handout, Tony said that immediately after restoring the power supply, the cables started melting down because these were of substandard quality.
“This poses a threat to the life and properties of the people of the area,” he claimed demanding that the company that has supplied such low quality wires should not only be black listed but should also be penalized heavily.
Alleging that the wires are not meeting the specifications mentioned at the time of tendering, the DDC Member said this reveals that some people who are hand in glove with certain officials are promoting corruption for their vested interest.
He demanded that such persons should be identified and booked under the law.
