Pensioners, senior citizens for release of DA installment

JAMMU, July 26: J&K State Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society has demanded immediate release of DA installment in favour of UT Government employees and pensioners.
In a meeting held through virtual mode today the Society made an appeal to the Lt Governor J&K, UT, Manoj Sinha in this regard and said since J&K is a UT the employees and pensioners of UT are entitled to get the DA from the very day the Central Government releases it for its employees.
The meeting was chaired by president of the Society, Mir Ghulam Rasool Butvani. He said that the rising prices have broken the back of working class in general and pensioners in particular who in the old age have to purchase the medicines for their various ailments hence the Government should pay them the DA installments for the last two years with retrospective effect.
The meeting was attended by D N Sadhoo, secretary of the Society, Bashir Ahmed Malik from Anantnag, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Buhru from Baramulla, Noor Mohammed Shah from Bandipora, Noor Mohammed Sheikh from Ganderbal, Comrade Pran Nath and Baldev Singh from Jammu and Mukhtar Ahmed Bazaz from Srinagar.
