Sir,
Killing of eight Army men in Srinagar, by militants on June 24 in broad day light should be an eye opener for those political leaders of our State who demand or favour revocation of AFSPA from a few districts of Jammu and Kashmir including Srinagar.
Again, killing of two cops by militants in the busy market of Hari Singh High Street, Srinagar on June 22 is another glaring example of the presence of militants in District Srinagar itself.
There is no denying the fact that Srinagar remained almost militancy free for quite some time. But, these recent incidents show that, no doubt, militants remained silent for quite some time but that does not means that militancy is over and Srinagar is militancy free.
So, revocation of AFSPA and removing of all bunkers from Srinagar could lead to more militancy. Government should see that militants are not let scot free so that people feel safe and militancy is wiped out in real sense.
Yours etc….
