Foundation stone of Educational Block laid in Gurez

Srinagar, July 27: The foundation stone laying ceremony for Hari Om Bhatia Educational Block, Govt Middle School, Niru, Gurez Valley in District Bandipora was today done through virtual from BSF, Force HQ, New Delhi by Rakesh Asthana, DG BSF and Padmashri Akshay Kumar from Mumbai-in fond memory of his late father Hari Om Bhatia
The ceremony was carried out in presence of Anu Asthana, President BWWA, BSF, Dr Rajesh Mishra, IG Ftr HQ Kashmir, a large gathering of enthusiastic Children& their parents, teachers, civil officials and CO 115 Bn THQ and other force personnel.
Earlier, on June 17, 2021, Rakesh Asthana, DG BSF along with Akashy Kumar and Dr Rajesh Mishra, IPS, IG BSF Kashmir had visited 115 Bn BSF THQ Niru Gurez to celebrate “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” where he donated Rupees One Crore to Govt. Middle School, Niru for construction of a new education block consisting of two classrooms, one library, computer lab, separate toilet for girls/boys, generator set for electricity and staff room for the teachers.
Pertinently, there is only one Govt. School at Niru and its surrounding area having 15 villages and about 140 to 150 students.
The construction of a new block with additional facilities would help the students immensely in their future endeavours.
During the inauguration Rakesh Asthana, IPS, DG BSF expressed his gratitude to Akshay Kumar for associating BSF in Nobel Civic Action Programme and promised to accomplish the construction of “Shri Hariom Bhatia Education Block” at Govt Middle School, Niru in time bound manner and BSF will again request Akshay Kumar to physically join BSF to inaugurate Education Block on its completion.
Akshay Kumar while talking to the residents of Niru in his usual grace and humbleness said that it is not a donation by him but as a part of duty towards the children and people living on the border in the difficult and far-flung area.
He thanked DG BSF for coming forward to make his dream come true.
