CRPF jawan hurt, panic in Kulgam

SRINAGAR , June 28: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was injured when militants lobbed a rifle grenade towards a CRPF picket near Hotel Plaza at Bus Stand, Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district this morning.
Police said that militants fired a rifle grenade at around 11:10 am towards CRPF bunker. The grenade exploded outside the Hotel Plaza resulting in injury to a CRPF personnel, police said.
The injured jawan identified as Kabir of 179 battalion of CRPF has been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Soon after the attack paramilitary forces and SOG launched searches to nab the attackers.
Meanwhile, panic gripped the District Hospital Kulgam after security forces cordoned off the hospital on a tip off about the presence of a militant with a grenade in the hospital premises.
The militant threw a packed grenade inside the hospital complex to create panic and people ran out and the militant took advantage of the panic and fled from the hospital.
