NEW DELHI, June 28: Chief patron of National Panthers Party (NPP) and member National Integration Council Prof Bhim Singh paid highest tributes to the 9th Prime Minister of India P V Narsimha Rao who took over as Congress Minister at a time when the country was passing through a grave economic and political crisis.
While paying tributes to Late Rao on his 92nd birth anniversary function here, Prof Bhim Singh described the former PM as selfless politician, renowned freedom fighter and farsighted statesman in the Congress Party, who steered India through the economic tempest with the power of his mind and commitment. His farsightedness could be appreciated from the fact that he picked up a non-political person Dr Manmohan Singh and gave him ministerial work to restore the economic order which had literally collapsed when V P Singh opted out of PM’s office.
It was Narsimha Rao who managed to keep the volcanoes of militancy under control through his diplomacy and international relations. Prof Singh recalled that Mr Rao had ignored the critics within the party and Government in assigning the work to him for improving public relations with international community from Palestine and United Nations. It was Mr Rao’s wisdom that he deputed 15- member team led by him to several countries to clear confusion of many countries regarding Kashmir, role of Pakistan and militancy being supported by other nations to disturb peace here. The NPP leaders and activists paid their rich tributes to Late Rao on this occasion.
