JAMMU, June 28: National Panthers Party has alleged that the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s visit to the Jammu and Kashmir has exposed the fissures in the Congress-NC ruling coalition.
In a press statement issued here today the chairman of the Party and MLA from Ramnagar, Harshdev Singh has alleged that the visit of Prime Minister to State had brought to fore the fissures in the ruling coalition and exposed the extremely fragile nature of the alliance between the two partners who were running the Government in an uneasy cooperation and some times in secret competition with each other.
Mr Singh said that the senior NC leaders including Dr Mustafa Kamaal and Dr Mehboob Beigh who were quite vocal and vecifrous in their criticism of Union Government had used the present occasion also to demonstrate their anger against their coalition partner. He said that the Dr Mehboob Beigh had publically criticized the Prime Minister for not responding to the demands of autonomy and transfer of Dul Hasti power project. The rebuttal of the charges of the NC leader by PCC chief Prof Soz had initiated a debate and tug of war between the alliance partners that were diametrically opposed to each other on multi-farious issues.
The NPP leader further expressed his dismay over the unprovoked outbursts and virtual threats of Omar Abdullah in Banihal public meeting over Article 370 which not only put the top leadership in the country in an embarssing position but on a receiving end. Describing PM’s visit as disappointing one, the NPP leader regretted that PM failed to announce any special package for the State.
