SRINAGAR, June 28: Member Planning Commission, Syeda Hameed today had a meeting with Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan here at Civil Secretariat and discussed the overall health scenario besides physical and financial status of several schemes being implemented for upgradation of health care infrastructure in the State under State and Centre Plans.
During the meeting several matters like onetime special package for completion of ongoing health infrastructure, upgradation of Drug and Food Testing Laboratories, Bone and Joint hospital, extending of treatment facilities of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) in all district hospitals, setting up of more trauma hospitals besides upgradation of Mental Health Care facilities in the State came under discussion.
Besides, senior officers of Planning Commission, Mission Director NRHM, Dr. Yashpual Sharma and other officers of health services Kashmir attended the meeting.
The Member Planning Commission received detailed appraisal from State Health Minister about the steps taken by the State Government for strengthening health care facilities, besides physical and financial status of various components being implemented under NRHM in the State.
The Health Minister urged for increase in allocations under health sector to the State like other hilly States of the country. He requested for sanction of special financial package from the Centre under NRHM and annual plan for completion of ongoing different health projects in the State.
The Health Minister apprised the Member Planning Commission that though treatment facilities of NCD have been introduced in some district hospitals but yet there is needed to cover all the district hospitals under free treatment of NCD of the State.
The Member Planning Commission assured the Minister for taking all possible steps for upgrading healthcare facilities in the State. He said the Commission would give due consideration while releasing the funds under different central schemes for improvement and upgradation of health care facilities in Jammu and Kashmir.
