Man arrested for raping women after staging fake marriages

REASI, Aug 2: Police has arrested an alleged rapist, who exploited his victim by staging fraud marriage.
The arrested accused, identified as Tariq Khan, son of Mohd Hussain of Kalali Manjakote, had hidden his identity and fraudulently developed relations with family of the victim who was repeatedly raped in the garb of fake marriage while living in her house.
A few days later, he suddenly disappeared after decamping with 50 grams gold and Rs 4 lakh cash from the victim’s house. He kept himself hiding and avoided establishing any contact with the victim. After sometime, the exploited woman came to know that she was into family way and she decided to give birth to child.
Acting on complaint of the victim, FIR number 152, under section 420/376/379 was lodged in Police Station Reasi and investigation was initiated.
During preliminary investigations, it came to fore that accused was habitual of developing relationships with innocent girls on the false promises of marriage and then exploit them. In fact, he was married some 22 years ago in Rajouri where he is also having children. In another case, he made relationship with an innocent woman in Srinagar, married her and repeated the same story.
Fraudulent relationship with the woman in Reasi remained for four months and during this period, he repeatedly raped her.
Working upon clues from human intelligence, the presence of accused was found in Kashmir valley. SSP Reasi, Shailender Singh constituted a special team headed by a Sub Inspector, which conducted a series of raids and arrested the accused from Barbarshah, the downtown area of Srinagar city.
According to Police, Tariq Khan is a habitual offender and hardcore criminal of Manjakote area of Rajouri. He is defaulter of bank loans in Rajouri and also accused in another FIR case in Police Station Bahu Fort Jammu.
