JAMMU, Aug 3: JKPCC vice president Raman Bhalla today claimed that BJP Government in the midst of a collapsing economy, turning a disaster into an opportunity to fill its coffers. He said Govt has broken all records of profiteering by exorbitantly raising Excise duty instead of passing on the benefits to common people, adding that every household was hurting due to the increased price of basic commodities.
Interacting with aggrieved people of Bahu Fort area of Gandhi Nagar constituency today, Bhalla said Congress will emerge stronger, serve the people and steer the J&K to peace, progress and development. He claimed that BJP Govt failed to take steps to develop Bahu Fort area, which could have fast emerged pilgrim and tourist destinations in J&K.
Bhalla said for increasing tourism and pilgrims influx in Bahu Fort area, BJP Govt did nothing in last seven years. Government failed to make any efforts to provide modern wayside facilities to pilgrims and tourists at Bahu Fort area besides nothing done to display the history of Rani Mahal and other Dogra rulers at prominent places at Maha Kali temple for the knowledge of visitors. He warned that “such machinations would be met forcefully by the peace-loving and secular people of this region who have still not forgotten mischievous role of BJP.
He said BJP had been hammering discrimination and invoking Jammu pride for six decades of its wilderness in the opposition but once getting into the cradle of power, it has left the people in lurch and pushed the youth to deprivation. He claimed the BJP had lost the moral right of claiming to be the champions of the Jammu cause. The people of Jammu are feeling let down as the entire system of governance has gone “haywire”.
“Soaring prices are breaking the backbone of poor, utility services are in a shambles, grievance mechanism is in complete disarray and all sectors of development are suffering inertia. To divert the attention from its alleged failures, the BJP has again embarked on “hoodwinking” people by shifting blame to other parties,” he alleged.
“Jammu has suffered the most during the BJP’s seven years of ‘misrule’, and the electorate has firmly taught the party a lesson by power of their votes for the betrayal,” he said, adding that defeat has unnerved the BJP leadership, and that was why they were indulging in name calling and mudslinging.
