JAMMU, Aug 3: The protest sit-in held by the Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) at Jagti township near here entered 306th day.
Addressing the protesters, Shadi Lal Pandita, president, JTC and SKF said that the Government is doing injustice to Kashmiri migrants while relief holders are on streets demanding enhancement of their monthly cash relief which is very meager.
He said the prices have touched sky and the relief holders are unable to make their both ends meet. He demanded immediate enhancement of relief to Rs 25,000 per month.
He also demanded Government jobs for unemployed youth and, interest -free loans be given to over aged youths. Pandita also demanded compensation for the losses suffered in shape of crops and other property during turmoil and settlement of community in three townships constructed at three district headquarters.
Pandita also urged the Government to give political reservation and minority status to Kashmiri Pandits. Raj Kumar Tickoo unit president of Jagti township JTC appealed to the LG of J&K UT to solve the growing problems of Kashmiri Pandits. He demanded package of 20,000 jobs should be announced for unemployed youth of KPs. Out of 20,000 posts 5,000 Class IV posts should be given to unemployed youth who have passed matriculation and later could not continue higher education due to poverty.
