AKHNOOR, Aug 8: Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said that people of the Jammu region are back stabbed by BJP leadership. There is strong resentment among people of Jammu region against BJP, which miserably failed to address even basic issues of people.
Addressing public rally in Khour area of Chhamb Constituency today, former Deputy CM said that BJP Government has totally lost its credibility due to its misgovernance, which led to the failure of Government on all the fronts. He said problems like lack of basic amenities, unemployment and inflation in J&K forced the common man to live in miserable conditions.
Tara Chand said that the causal workers, daily wagers, consolidated employees, need based workers and employees of several departments highlighted their demands through protests seeking fulfillment of the commitments and promises by BJP Govt to them while in opposition and after assuming power, they are neglected by the Government instead of resolving their issues.
He deliberated upon various problems being faced by public in absence of an elected Government. He said people want development, employment opportunities, better infrastructure and other basic requirements like adequate water and power supply. He said BJP is a dream seller party which makes lot of promises during elections. But after getting power, they act as mute spectators.
Tara Chand blamed BJP for the falling growth rate of the country. He alleged that the Centre was not taking any effective steps to improve the economic situation of the country. Taking a dig at Union Government, Tara Chand claimed that Jammu region is reeling under shortage of various requirements but Government is unmoved. He observed that under BJP regime in the centre, poor people are not able to have two square meals due to sky rocketing prices. He lambasted BJP for having done the greatest disservice to J&K by demoting it to the level of UT. He said that Congress party will not keep quiet unless Statehood to J&K is restored.
The rally was also addressed by former minister RS Chib, Narinder Sharma PCC Secretary, Varun Magotra, Sahil Sharma and others.
