JAMMU, Aug 8: The aspirants of the J&K Police Sub-Inspector (SI) post today staged a protest seeking age bar relaxation in the recently notified around 800 vacancies across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Scores of aspirants assembled outside Jammu University and held a protest and said that the age bar has been kept 18 to 28 years while the same is much higher in various States and UTs outside J&K. Click here to watch video
“The aspirants said that in the year 2016, a recruitment drive was held and only very limited educated unemployed youth were absorbed. The aspirants who were graduating around 2010 have got only one chance in last 11 years for JKP Sub-Inspector examination which is injustice with educated employed youth”, they added.
“In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the maximum age prescribed for recruitment as Sub-Inspector is 28 years whereas in the other states like Gujarat, Kerala and Bihar, the maximum limit for recruitment is 21 years to 35 years”, they said, adding that Government has granted one time age relaxation in JKPSC (KPS) exams from 32 years to 37 years and the same relaxation should also given to aspirants who have passion to join Police Department as a Sub-Inspector.
Approval of 800 posts of Sub Inspectors in the Police Department for the educated unemployed youth is a welcome step, the aspirants said and urged the Lieutenant Governor to prescribe the maximum age for the recruitment in the Police Department as Sub-Inspector to 35 years so that large number of educated unemployed youth could apply and take part in the recruitment as Sub-Inspectors in the Police Department.
