Govt committed to equitable development of all regions: Sakina

KULGAM, June 30: Reiterating the resolve of the Coalition Government for the upliftment of the weaker sections and all round development of all three regions of the State, Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo today said that Government has formulated a well-knit programme for the upgradation of existing infrastructure in vital sectors.
Addressing a public meeting at Shahoo Sachan near here, the Minister said that it is endeavour of the Government to ensure responsible, transparent and accountable administration to the people of the State and for the purpose several land mark decisions have been taken by the present Government. These initiatives included establishment of full-fledged RTI Commission, State Accountability Commission, powerful Vigilance Commission and launched Public Service Guarantee Act, which are aimed at to provide time bound essential services to the people. Besides, several more initiatives have been initiated to restore peace and tranquillity and welfare of the people, especially the poor sections of the society, said the Minister.
Maintaining that the peace is pre-requisite for ensuring all round development, the Minister appealed the people to maintain complete peace and help the administration to fully concentrate on the development and implementing various flagship programmes of Centre as well State Governments. She said many vested interests are out to disturb the peace and order in the State and spreading rumours to undermine the development scenario of the present Government as they are not digesting. She asked the people not to pay any heed to such rumours and rather they should involve themselves in the developmental activities, which is for their benefits as well of State.
Responding to the demands put forth by the people, the Minister issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned sectoral officers to address the problems on priority. She directed the officers to attend people’s problems on priority. The issues which were brought to the notice of the minister mainly pertained to basic facilities like drinking water, road connectivity, electricity.
