JAMMU, Aug 8: The New Young Blood Organisation (NYBO) today urged the Lt Governor to ban the Chinese thread in the UT of J&K which the people often use for flying kites during the festival season of Raksha Bandhan and Janam Ashtami.
The demand was made by the president of the (NYBO), Ashok Verma at a press conference here. He sought immediate intervention of the LG in the matter so that shopkeepers selling the Chinese thread can be restrained from doing the same in the larger interests of the people of UT.
He said this is in the interest of the people as in past many people received fatal injuries after the thread used for kite flying stuck in their necks. Some people had received serious injuries and even some deaths have also taken place.
Verma, while terming it a serious issue said the banning of the Chinese thread has become mandatory in the UT. Moreover, with the banning of this tread the domestic industry can be promoted instead of giving unnecessary preference to Chinese market and goods, he added.
