Srinagar, Aug 9: A bakery operating in Srinagar has been sealed by the officials of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) after worms were found inside the bakery.
Officials told Excelsior that the ‘Akbar Bakery’ at the New Colony Palpora area of Noorbagh area of Srinagar was inspected, and after a thorough check, big worms were found inside the bakery being sold to the people.
“It was a routine check and what came to the fore was shocking; the shop was immediately sealed and the samples of the bakery were also collected,” the officials said.
They said that the food items that were found of poor quality and unhygienic were destroyed on the spot.
FCS&CA officials said that the samples have been taken for analysis by the Food & Safety Standards and further action will follow based on the report.
