23 bootleggers, one drug peddler arrested

REASI, Aug 9: Continuing its drive `Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh’, District Police Reasi booked 23 bootleggers and one drug peddler by registering 23 FIRs in the last 24 hours. Police seized Heroin and 105 litres of Hooch while more than 4000 litres of Lahan was destroyed.
Teams of Police Station Arnas conducted series of raids and booked 13 bootleggers under Excise Act for distillation and selling illicit liquor. Booked accused were identified as Padam Singh of Panassa, Prem Singh of Nala Panassa, Chamail Singh of Panassa, Hardev Singh of Ksiri Jij Bagli, Sukhdev Singh of Ksiri Jij Bagli, Kartar Singh of Upper Matlote, Inder Singh of Upper Matlote, Girdhari Lal of Lamsoora No. 2, Sher Singh of Lamsoora No. 2, Lal Singh of Thilloo Bagad, Chandu of Dhanore, Des Raj of Matah, Krishan Singh of Sulwa Hunder. Police seized 104 litres of illicit liquor and destroyed more than 4000 litres of lahan .
In another success, team of Police Station Reasi arrested a drug peddler Pawan Singh son of Vakil Singh of Sherpur and recovered Heroine like substance from his possession during checking at Sulla naka.
Teams of Police Station Katra nabbed three bootleggers , identified as Balwan Singh of Mundhar Kastigarh Doda, Tariq Hussain of Kot Bhalwal Jammu and Ramesh Chander of Searli Katra, who were smuggling liquor to holy town Katra. Police recovered 95 bottles of Whisky from their possession. Another bootlegger namely Sanjay Kumar of Kanka, tehsil & district Reasi was arrested by Katra Police and 11 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession.
Team of Police Post Bhambla arrested Rajveer Singh of Godhar Pouni and Mukesh Kumar of Dhar Potha Nowshera for selling illicit liquor.
Team of Police Station Ransoo raided house of Nasib Singh in Ward number 2, Allay and arrested him for preparing illicit liquor. Team of Police Station Pouni arrested Karam Singh of Buelian Kharlair and recovered two litres of illicit liquor.
Team of Police Post Tote arrested Gaja Ram of Sarotekote and recovered three liters of illicit liquor from his possession.
