JAMMU, Aug 9: Terming the recently framed new ‘Film Policy’ 2021 by the UT Government as a revolutionary initiative, Jammu and Kashmir, BJP spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, today said that it would have great impact on the economy besides generating employment.
Balbir said that J&K used to be one of the most attractive tourist destination of the world prior to outbreak of militancy and the erstwhile State suffered a lot during the last over 30 years as militancy had badly hit the peaceful atmosphere of J&K, which sent a message that coming here was risky and that film activities were not possible. However now the situation has changed as normalcy is fast returning to J&K which can pave a way for resumption of all normal activities, he added.
Balbir said that during the times of shooting of films, many services were needed when big units stayed in different places for weeks and months together, which not only provided avenues of employment but also gave boost to the local economy.
The BJP spokesperson further said that it is not only Kashmir but Jammu too has a large number of natural and beautiful spots which would attract the film industry and the tourists in large numbers under the new policy.
“New Film Policy will transform J&K into most preferred film shooting destination, filmmakers from across the world would come to J&K & capture its pristine beauty through their lens, Balbir shared these views of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
Balbir added that the incentives in the J&K Film Policy 2021 to patronize the feeling of “One Nation, Best Nation” (Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat), and on certain other themes as decided by JKFDC, priority booking facility to producers and their crew in getting accommodation, facilities to provide airstrips and its air resources for outdoor shooting of the film in the UT, promoting the setting up of film studios and processing labs, until a fully active film city is established in Jammu & Kashmir, will go a long way in making the UT once again a hub of films related activities.
