JAMMU, Aug 11: Responding vociferously against the remarks of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Senior BJP leader and former Minister Bali Bhagat said that the statements of Rahul reflect his and his Party’s utter frustration due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s success in establishing peace in the Valley with complete closure of Separatists’ shops and annihilation of secessionist elements.
In a statement issued to media today, Bali Bhagat, while reacting to Rahul’s statement that people of Jammu and Kashmir have been immensely hurt by the abrogation of Article 370, said that the reality is that Rahul Gandhi and his party have been grievously hurt by its abrogation as it resulted in complete integration of J&K with India. Since Congress has always followed the policy of divide and rule therefore measures towards national integration has highly perturbed this party and its leaders, he added.
“It is really an irony that Rahul claims that there is an assault on democracy by the Central Government. He should goes into the pages of history and see that the assault on democracy happened during Congress regime in 1975 when the Centre imposed emergency with a massive crackdown on politicians, journalists and throwing thousands behind the bars,” he added.
The senior BJP leader reminded Rahul that President’s Rule was imposed in the four states i.e. UP, MP, Rajasthan and HP in 1992 and that it was the Congress Party that has time and again assaulted democracy of this great nation and its people. He said that the real assault on democracy took place in the erstwhile State of J&K when with Congress Government was in Centre and all the 75 constituent Assembly seats were rigged by Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah in 1951.
Bali Bhagat lamented that Rahul and his party has been accusing the BJP of creating communal divide while it is on record that the Nation has witnessed maximum communal riots during the Congress regime. He also reminded Rahul Gandhi of the 1989-90 forced exodus of KPs from the Valley after their sisters and daughters were raped besides merciless killings of Kashmiri Hindus during the Congress regime.
