KATHUA, Aug 12: The irate people of Chann Morian blocked the National Highway (NH) in the village by keeping the dead body of a youth on the National Highway for arrest of his murderers and justice to slain person.
The family members, relatives and villagers assembled at National Highway in Chhan Morian when body of a person reached here in Ambulance after post mortem which was found near Railway track at Chann Morrian, Sector Hiranagar.
The deceased was identified as Vicky Verma, 32, son of Som Dutt of Chann Morrian.
The protestors were led by retired Master Tilak Raj. They blocked both the tubes of NHW at Chhan Morian and kept dead body in the centre of Highway. They were raising slogans seeking justice and immediate arrest of accused behind the fake railway track incident. The National Highway was blocked for two hours and traffic was suspended on both the tubes. The long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the Highway. The passengers faced inconvenience due to Highway blockade.
The ADC Kathua, Atul Gupta and ASP Kathua reached on the spot and assured the people that suitable action would be taken against the culprits.
In this connection, Hiranagar police started questioning of some suspicious of villagers of Chhan Morian. After that people agreed and opened the NHW for regular vehicular traffic. A case under section 174 has been registered by GRP Hiranagar.
