JAMMU, Aug 17: Two- month Agri-entrepreneurship Start-up Training Program was today inaugurated, here at Agri-Business Incubator, SKUAST Jammu.
Vice Chancellor, Prof J P Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. He briefed about the important role of innovation and entrepreneurship in the elevation of the agricultural sector and its various stakeholders. He exhorted the young entrepreneurs to think outside the box and come up with unique creative ideas for establishment of their start ups. He advised the participants to have an informative and interactive two months training programme.
The training program is sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Govt of India and is being organized by Agri Business Incubator, SKUAST-J. The program has innovation and entrepreneurship development as its main components. The training programme will focus on Agribusiness startups and will be instrumental in providing them a unique platform that will act as a launch-pad to give wings to their creative and critical thinking abilities in providing innovative solutions for today’s market needs.
Earlier, Dr Jyoti Kachroo, Prof & Head and PI, R-ABI Jammu, briefed about the RKVY-RAFTAAR Project highlighting Udgam (Agri-preneurship Orientation Programme/Pre seed stage funding) and Pragati (Seed stage funding programme) as Grant- in- aid to start-ups. She also discussed the training pedagogy and major focus areas to be covered during the training programme.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr S P Singh & Dr Anil Bhat (Asst Prof and Co-PIs). Business Executives, Ashish Kumar Isher and Tarunjeet Singh facilitated the online streaming of the programme.
Vice-Chancellor Prof J P Sharma also delivered a talk to the incubates, faculty members and students on Agripreneurship under Atma Nirbhar Bharat and What Makes Success to Agripreneurs? He asked incubates to come up with the innovative ideas for diversification and agri business. He discussed about the various schemes of GoI for the promotion and commercialization of entrepreneurship.
Prof Sharma interacted and shared his experience in a way that everyone could understand. The talk was enlightening and stimulating.
