Woman dies, 38 test +ve in Jammu

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Aug 17: A woman died of COVID-19 and 38 persons tested positive in Jammu region while Kashmir reported 45 fresh cases and the Union Territory of Ladakh recorded four.
A 75-year-old woman hailing from Sadeeqabad in Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda district died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda today taking Corona toll in the Jammu region to 2159 and Doda district to 129.
Among 38 new cases in the region today, Jammu district accounted for nine, Rajouri eight, Doda seven, Kishtwar and Poonch five each, Reasi three and Kathua one. Udhampur, Samba and Ramban didn’t report any fresh cases.
Fifty eight persons recovered from the virus.
Jammu region now has 1,22,584 Corona cases. Among them, 473 are active positives while 1,19,952 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2159 casualties.
The UT of Ladakh today reported four new COVID positive cases including three in Leh district and one in Kargil. Ladakh now has 77 active positive cases.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 45 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 17 from Srinagar, 5 from Baramulla, 3 from Budgam, 4 from Pulwama, 4 from Kupwara, 2 from Anantnag, 4 from Bandipora, 3 from Ganderbal and 3 from Kulgam.
As per officials figures, 71,853 positive cases including 834 deaths and 70,761 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,775 including 282 deaths and 23,411 recoveries are from Baramulla, 23,034 including 22,755 recoveries and 206 deaths are from Budgam, 15,267 including 15,034 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,160 including 166 deaths and 13,956 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,378 including 16,135 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,566 cases including 9,412 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 10,034 including 9,895 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,340 including 11,187 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,591 including 5,527 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 200,998 including 198,073 recoveries and 2,240 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,158 including 685 from Kashmir division.
With 153 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 318,025 which is 98.28 percent of the total cases.
