Cyber Police nabs another most wanted fraudster from Patiala

JAMMU, Aug 20: Cyber Police Station Jammu has succeeded in apprehending another most wanted fraudster involved in Rs 34 lakh online cyber fraud case.
The accused person has been identified as Sukhdeep Singh, son of Iqbal Singh of Guru Nanak Nagar Patiala. He was wanted in a case registered under FIR Number 10/2021 under Sections 66-D IT Act, 420 and 120-B IPC with Cyber Police Station Jammu.
Divulging the details, SP Cyber Police Station Naresh Singh said that on February 20 this year, a complainant namely Inder Pal Singh of Talab Tillo District Jammu reported at Cyber Police Station Jammu that he was duped by unknown fraudsters on the pretext of buying units of Canadian Pension Fund and convinced the complainant for good returns. The complainant got trapped in the luring offer and consequently lost Rs 34 lakh in multiple transactions from different banks.
“During the course of investigation, Investigating Officer succeeded in identifying co-accused fraudster who has defrauded complainant of hard earned money. In the month of June 2021, member of the gang of online fraudster Daljit Kour, wife of Shingara Singh, a resident of Sahnewal Ludhiana was arrested in the instant case in whose bank account Rs 24 lakh was credited and Rs 10 lakh was credited in the account of Sukhdeep Singh”, SP Naresh Singh stated.
SP Cyber Police Station informed that after ascertaining the location of the accused, a team headed by Inspector Vikram Sharma, Investigating Officer of the case under the supervision of DySP Cyber Priyanka Kumari was deputed to apprehend the accused, adding that the team acting swiftly arrested the accused from Patiala. The accused is brought at Cyber Police Station Jammu after completing all legal procedures. The accused is involved in other complaints also, SP stated.
“Police is also searching for other fraudsters involved in the commission of the offence. Further sustained questioning of the arrested accused by the police is going on to ascertain involvement of other accused into the case”, SP Naresh Singh informed.
