NHM employees unhappy over recent rationalization order

Srinagar, Aug 22: The J&K NHM Employees Association (JKNHMEA) today said that recent order regarding the enhancement and the rationalization of remuneration of NHM employees issued by the Mission Director, NHM has not taken into consideration the grievances of the majority of employees.
The Association said that while it welcomes the order in general, there has been a complete disregard for the grievances of the majority of employees which includes Doctors, Paramedics and the Management Staff.
President JKNHMEA Muneer Andrabi said that while finalizing rationalization of remuneration, the basic criteria of job profile, qualification, experience and workload has been ignored which, he said, is a clear violation of the norms is set by the MoHFW.
“There has been a complete disregard for pay scales of various posts in the state which should have been one of the guiding factors for rationalization of wages. It is unjust that within different categories of paramedical staff there is variation in wages despite the posts falling within the same pay scale and other attributes being similar,” he said.
The Association said that among the Management Unit Staff the most experienced are drawing the lowest salary courtesy the practice of making fresh recruitment at higher remuneration.
“The Management Unit Staff engaged in 2007 are drawing far less wages as against those engaged since 2014 despite the former having higher workload, responsibility and qualification,” it said.
Andrabi said that there are also some categories that are working but they are not been even mentioned in the order and many other categories of staff also need to be given a hearing before the rationalization exercise is concluded.
The JKNHMEA has appealed to the concerned higher-ups to relook into the matter and an additional order be issued “so that those discriminated against for too long are also given a reprieve and sense of justice.”
