JAMMU, Aug 22: Jammu police has arrested three more accused in sensational Sanjay Nagar murder case and apprehended a minor girl also.
The arrests have been made during investigation of a case FIR Number 235/2021 registered in Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli said that the incident related to this case happened on 19th of August when one Popinder Singh son of Tirth Singh resident of Akali Kour Singh Nagar, Jammu entered in house of his son in law at Sanjay Nagar and attacked his family members.
In this attack, son in law of accused namely Amandeep Singh, his father Rajinder Singh son of Gurucharan Singh and his mother Shakuntla Kour received severe injuries and were taken to a hospital where Shakuntla Kour succumbed while victim Amandeep Singh also succumbed later on, taking death toll in the murder case to two.
On this, an instant case in FIR 235/2021 under Sections 302, 307, 34 IPC, 4/25 Arms Act was registered in Gandhi Nagar Police Station and prime accused namely Popinder Singh was arrested.
SSP Jammu further said that a Special Investigation Team headed by Sub Divisional Police Officer Gandhi Nagar and Station House Officer Gandhi Nagar under the supervision of SP South Jammu started investigation during which vital leads were received.
Taking investigation forward on these vital leads, police managed to establish role of three more person as co-accused in this twin murder incident after which they were zeroed in.
Police has now arrested Jaswant Kour wife of prime accused Popinder Singh and Gurmeet Kour daughter of Popinder Singh who also happens to be the wife of victim Amandeep and another minor daughter of Popinder Singh has also been apprehended.
During the course of investigation, the weapon of offence which is an extended sharp edges knife has also been recovered whereas a hard drive containing CCTV footage which was taken away by prime accused has also been recovered.
The entire incident happened due to domestic problem and family feud prevailing between both the families.
