Youth dies, 45 test +ve in Jammu

JAMMU/SRINAGAR /LEH, Aug 22: A youth died of COVID-19 and 45 others tested positive for the virus in Jammu region while 62 new cases were reported from Kashmir division and eight in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
A 23-year-old youth hailing from village Bainumbal in Koteranka area of Rajouri district died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu taking Corona toll in Jammu region to 2162 and Rajouri district to 232.
Among 45 cases, 12 were reported from Jammu district, 10 each in Doda and Kishtwar, seven Rajouri, three Poonch and one each in Reasi, Kathua and Udhampur districts. Ramban and Samba districts didn’t report any fresh cases today.
Twenty nine persons today recovered from the virus leaving behind 444 active positive cases in the Jammu region.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported eight new COVID positive cases including seven in Leh and one in Kargil district.
Ladakh now has 68 active positive cases.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 62 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 25 from Srinagar, Baramulla 7, Budgam 11, Pulwama 5, Kupwara 1, Anantnag 1, Bandipora 3, Ganderbal 5 and Kulgam 3.
Srinagar has 71980 positive cases with 251 active, 70895 recovered, 834 deaths; Baramulla has 23809 positive cases with 73 active, 23454 recovered, 282 deaths; Budgam reported 23064 positive cases with 64 active cases, 22794 recovered, 206 deaths; Pulwama has 15281 positive cases with 34 active, 15053 recovered and 194 deaths; Kupwara has 14202 positive cases, 45 active, 13991 recoveries, 166 deaths; Anantnag district has 16434 positive cases with 63 active, 16166 recovered and 205 deaths; Bandipora has 9600 positive cases, with 54 active, 9446 recoveries and 100 deaths; Ganderbal has 10070 positive cases with 64 active, 9928 recoveries and 78 deaths; Kulgam has 11398 positive cases with 69 active, 11212 recoveries and 117 deaths while as Shopian has 5593 positive cases with 04 active cases, 5531 recoveries and 58 deaths.
Moreover, 100 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 71 from Kashmir division.
