Srinagar, Aug 24: Police in Kulgam today said to have recovered a kidnapped minor girl within one hour and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of the crime in Kulgam area.
Police Station Kulgam received a written complaint from one person stating that his minor daughter was kidnapped by one person namely Muntazir Ahmad Shakhsaz, son of Mohammad Yaqoob Shakhsaz, resident of Chawalgam.
Accordingly, police said, a case vide FIR No. 197/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation initiated.
During the investigation, a team headed by SHO Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam Ghulam Muhamad Bhat was constituted to trace the kidnapped girl.
“Acting on specific leads and by utilizing all available means, the team was able to recover the kidnapped girl and arrest the accused person involved in the commission of the crime within one hour after the complaint was received,” police said.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.
