Govt cautions against possible hacking of e-office

JAMMU, Aug 25: Sounding an alert, the Government of Jammu Kashmir has enjoined upon all e-office users to be mindful of online invasion and interventions like hacking of e-office.
A circular in this regard was issued today by the General Administration Department, directing that any unusual file movement/approval should be reported urgently to the authorities.
Further, the authenticity of any such order/direction shall be established before any action for compliance is taken, reads the circular.
Observing that the implementation of e-office in the Civil secretariat has brought about a great deal of efficiency in the overall working and disposal of Government business in the Union Territory of J&K, besides ensuring functioning of the Civil Secretariat at Jammu as well as in Srinagar, the Government has maintained that notwithstanding these benefits, this online system like any other IT based system is susceptible to online invasions, especially hacking.
“While security of this system is being strengthened, dangers of hacking cannot be over ruled. All e-office users therefore, have to be remain extra cautious and vigilant in respect of potential online invasions and hacking attempts,” reads the circular.
