KARGIL, Aug 25: Member Parliament (MP) Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal here today conducted a surprise visit of Government Model Degree College (GMDC) Zanskar.
During visit, the MP took stock of academic activities as well as ongoing construction works in the College.
College Principal, Nasir Shabani apprised the MP about various development works under progress in the college.
He informed that six new projects will start during the current financial year out of which four projects—50 bedded separate hostels for boys and girls, science laboratory block and indoor stadium cum multipurpose hall have been approved under SDP.
The Principal named more such projects as gazetted staff quarters under state capex and non-gazetted staff quarters under district capex and said that all these projects will be passive solar and conducive to the climatic conditions of Zanskar.
The MP also inspected the existing infrastructure in the College along with the newly established makeshift laboratory.
He then inspected all the procured materials for gymnasium, computer lab, sports equipments and furniture under various schemes including RUSA, state capex and district capex.
The MP interacted with students and asked them to take full benefit of the facilities available in the college and assured all possible support to the college administration.
He also assured various exposure tours for the students through different agencies.
