Srinagar, Aug 25: People’s Democratic Party president, Mehbooba Mufti today said that those who raise their voices against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), are being put behind bars.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of workers convention, Mehbooba said that anyone who speaks or raises their voice against BJP are being put behind bars so the people of Kashmir should not be sad about this as it is their routine work now.
She said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should have no grudges against the Government of India.
The PDP president also said that the present Government led by the BJP was selling what Congress built in 70 years. “What in the last 70 years the leadership of India, especially the Congress had built in this country, they have sold all that. They are selling roads, petrol pumps, airports, railway stations, power projects”, she said.
She added that what they (BJP) are doing, whether there is an activist, politician, or student, they put them in jail, so what’s the big deal about Hurriyat Conference.
“If Jawaharlal Nehru had not been there and the secular culture, which is being destroyed now, I don’t think Jammu and Kashmir would have been a part of this country today,” she said.

Mehbooba said the Centre is lying that all the political leaders have been released from jails as many political leaders are still there.
She also admitted that the leaders in her party have run away but said that the workers in her party are still standing as they have been with the party before, and they are with them even today.
Referring to the June meeting in Delhi between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and political parties from Jammu and Kashmir, the PDP chief said that she had told the prime minister during the meeting that suppression and harassment of people should end.
She claimed that over 1,000 people from Jammu and Kashmir are still lodged in various jails of the country.
