Two surrendered ultras nabbed in Reasi

JAMMU, Aug 26: Army and Police today arrested two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit and recovered large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives from their possession in Kishtwar district.
They have been identified as Ashfaq Qayoom Tak son of Abdul Qayoom Tak, a resident of village Passerkot Takpur in Chatroo tehsil and Tousif Giri son of Ghulam Qadir Giri of Pochhal in Kishtwar district.
Police officials said both the militants were in direct contact with Hizbul Mujahideen commanders in Anantnag and were providing them with vital information pertaining to movement of security forces.
“The militants were hatching conspiracy to carry out terror attacks under the jurisdiction of Chatroo Police Station,” the officials said.
The militants were nabbed by a joint team of Army’s 11 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF 52 battalion and Kishtwar Police.
On the basis of information provided by the militants, security personnel conducted raid at forest area of Pingal in Chatroo and recovered one pistol with one magazine and 20 rounds, one grenade, one empty AK-47 magazine, two wireless sets, one wireless antenna and letter pads of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit’s Doda division.
Both the militants are being subjected to questioning to ascertain more clues from them.
A case FIR No. 53/2021 under Sections 13 and 18- Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) has been registered at Chatroo Police Station against the militants.
Ahead of Independence Day, police had arrested three fresh recruits of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit and recovered large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives from their possession in Kishtwar.
Meanwhile, continuing its drive against underground criminals and absconders, Reasi Police has apprehended a religious preacher and two surrendered militants among 16 absconders, who were evading arrest in different cases since years.
Lal Din and Abdul Rashid of Thanpal Arnas, who were involved in kidnapping and rape case under FIR number 30/1994 U/S 366, 376, 342, 343, 109 RPC at Police Station Mahore, and had been evading arrest since Sessions Court Reasi issued General warrant of arrest against them on 21-08-1999, were arrested from Arnas area and produced in the court of law.
Mohd Shafi alias Haroon Rashid of Dewal Doga and Bashir Ahmed alias Rashad of Neoch Mahore, who were involved in case FIR number 73/2010, under section 120-B, 121 RPC, 7/25 Arms Act, registered at Police Station Mahore, and had been absconding for the last 10 years, were arrested from Dewal area. Both the accused were affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit of terrorists and had later on surrendered before security forces.
