Prez to visit Kargil on Dussehra

LUCKNOW, Aug 27: President Ram Nath Kovind today announced that he will be visiting Kargil during Dussehra festival to pay tribute to martyrs of ‘Operation Vijay’.
“Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Manoj Pandey was martyred in Kargil. I have been trying to go there since 2019, but did not succeed,” the President said while addressing a function at the Manoj Pandey UP Sainik School here today.
“In the year 2019 and 2020, the weather there was very bad and Army officials said that the Cheetah helicopter could not land in such a situation. On July 26 this year, on the day of Kargil Vijay Diwas, I went to the Tiger War Memorial in Baramulla. There, I saw a message that every work is in the name of the country,” he said.
Mr Kovind said, “If all of us Indians follow this message in our daily routine, it will boost our national spirit. I have not given up hope of going to Kargil Smritika war memorial and have also talked to CDS. This year in Dussehra I will definitely go to Kargil.” (UNI)
