JAMMU, July 6: On the birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh President Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, BJP organised protest demonstrations and burnt the effigies at Mandal level in support of its demand for abrogation of Article 370 and total integration of J&K with rest of the country.
BJP State President and MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma and J&K Seh-Prabhari R P Singh led the protest  at Rajouri and later addressed party activists.
While addressing the protestors, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that Dr Mookerjee sacrificed his life while opposing the provision of permit system and separate symbols for J&K under the slogan of Ek Vidhaan, Ek Nishaan, Ek Pradhaan. He said that the separate symbols have induced a sense of separatism among the minds of Kashmiri people, which is not good for the State and the nation. He said that grant of special status under Article-370 of the Indian Constitution has lost its significance and needs to be abrogated. Those who are advocating the continuance of this Article should come out with at least one benefit which has been enjoyed by a common man, he added.
BJP National Executive Member and leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria while addressing at Sabzi Mandi Chowk in Jammu East said that the mission of Dr Mookerjee still remains incomplete as the successive Governments in the State have not taken any step to end with separate symbols and scrap Article-370. He said that the death of Dr Mookerjee is mystery even after 60 years, which itself indicates that he was murdered for his patriotic ideology as he represented the sentiments of large population who were working for full integration of the State with the rest of the country.
R P Singh said that the State of J& K acceded to the Indian Union under the same Instrument of Accession as signed by the other princely States. Its accession was final and J&K became integral part of India. Hence, there was no need of any special status to this State, which was done under pressure from Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, who wanted to please Sheikh Abdullah.
BJP Kashmir Cell National Co-Convenor Chander Mohan Sharma said that on this pious day, the party has decided to launch campaign for abrogation of Article-370 and also abrogation of separate Constitution and separate flag of the State. He said that Article-370 has proven to be a hurdle in the process of national integration and progress of J&K State.
