Border people sentinels of country: Vibodh

JAMMU, Sept 3: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) J&K general secretary and former MLC Vibodh Gupta today said that along with our Army the border people are also sentinels of our country.
This was stated by Vibodh Gupta while interacting with the locals in Arnia town where he visited along with convener BJP Border Area Welfare Cell J&K Brijeshwar Singh Rana. He saluted the people of border areas while stating that they have made huge sacrifices for the sake of the country.
It is because of the people living in the border areas that every citizen of our country feels secure, Vibodh remarked. He further added that the sacrifices made by the people of borders need due recognition and the BJP Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken many welfare programmes for the people living in border areas.
Throwing light on various historic welfare measures by the Central Government for the border people, Vibodh said that the blunders by earlier Governments are being corrected by BJP Government. He informed that people living on the International borders are now entitled for 4% reservation. At present because of the initiatives of the Modi Government the family of any shelling victim is entitled for a job for one person along with compensation of Rs 1 Lakh. “Similarly, for death of animals because of shelling the owner is entitled for a compensation of Rs 50,000,” Vibodh elaborated.
The locals also raised various issues faced by them. They informed the visiting delegation that the current month is the peak time for their Basmati Rice crop and for this they must get an uninterrupted supply of electricity. They also raised the issue of the bad condition of various irrigation channels which have almost choked because of siltation.
Others present on the occasion were Sunil Dutt (district general secretary R S Pura), Dharminder Singh (mandal president, Arnia), Ramesh Saini (president, Municipal Committee, Arnia), Surekha Devi (DDC Member Arnia),  Kuldeep Raj (Chairman BDC Arnia), Bharat Bhushan (district vice-president) and Sham Lal (vice-president MC Arnia).
